Ripley Town Centre Set For $1.5 Billion Expansion
The Ripley Town Centre will undergo a $1.5 billion expansion over coming years to include a range of new healthcare, education, recreational, commercial, community and sporting facilities.
The masterplan for Stage 2 of the Ripley Town Centre was unveiled this week (June 14) and is designed to cater for the massive population growth of the region with approximately 133,000 new residents expected to call Ripley Valley home by 2036.
The Town Centre, which is just 5 minutes from Providence, has been designed with a 20-minute neighbourhood philosophy that creates a low-carbon community connecting and intertwining with the surrounding natural green landscape.
Ten key, interconnected character areas form the masterplan, including the Civic Heart providing a central community and cultural space, The Esplanade which features indoor and outdoor dining overlooking green space, and The Green where young professionals, students and creatives will live, work and learn.
The masterplan includes also includes medium to high rise residential seniors living in a new South Village quarter, as well as an extension of the existing Centre for additional retail.
The first stage of Ripley Town Centre was completed in May 2018. The development of the 40-hectare site is expected to generate approximately 20,000 direct jobs.
The Town Centre is part of the State Government’s Ripley Valley Priority Development Area (PDA) which is designed to create 50,000 new dwellings by 2030. Providence is the largest masterplanned community within the PDA.
The State Government’s vision for Ripley Valley is to create a rich and festive community which has developed as a series of distinctive neighbourhoods and smaller villages within the many and varied valley precincts, surrounded both close and afar by hills and views of the iconic Flinders Peak.
Under the plan residents will have easy access and connections to employment opportunities both locally and within the wider Ipswich district.
Ripley Valley is the heart of one of the state's employment and economic growth regions, with residents benefiting from employment prospects in neighbouring areas of Ebenezer and Amberley. An integrated public transport system operates within and beyond the Valley to provide convenient travel alternatives.
