Providence in 2018: A Year of Milestones and Success

Dear friends,

As the Christmas and holiday season descends upon us I am filled with pride at how much we have accomplished together in Providence during 2018. It has certainly been an action-packed year and has established a strong foundation for progress in the years to come.

This year saw the launch and milestones of several major features at Providence. We started construction of a new $3 million sports and recreation precinct. As the Ripley Valley continues to grow we hope that the sport precinct will become home to Queensland’s next generation of sporting heroes.

Education was also a big element in 2018, with the Queensland State Government confirming a new multi-million-dollar education precinct at Providence, which will take its first students in 2020.

With sport and education taken care of in Providence, we also turned our attention to housing and this year launched a new display village. The $15 million display village was launched in September with visitors having the chance to browse through a number of homes which were designed to celebrate the Queensland lifestyle of family, entertaining and stylish living by Queensland’s best builders. The display village provided thousands of prospective buyers an insight into inspirational homes at Providence while also featuring food trucks, kids’ activities and live entertainment.

However, 2018 wasn’t all about new facilities. There was also a significant emphasis on community as well, with the launch of a new monthly market and the 3rd annual Heart and Soul Festival.

As of this year, the new Ripley Markets was held on the second Saturday of every month, from August and has a focus on arts, craft, homewares and giftware. The markets provide an opportunity for the community to come together as traders, buyers, friends and family.

Now in its third year at Providence, the Heart and Soul Festival 2018 was a tremendous success, growing into the biggest community-led event in Ipswich. Thousands of people attended the festival and enjoyed a day of food and drink, live entertainment, market stalls and cooking and lifestyle demonstrations. There were workshops, celebrity guests, volunteer-led activities and fireworks display that appropriately capped everything off by illuminating the night sky.

I would like to take the opportunity to call out the team at Providence for their incredible efforts throughout the year. From every department at every level, you have helped create something truly unique in South Ripley. I want you to enjoy your Christmas break and return in 2019 with the knowledge that you are directly responsible for positive growth and development in South East Queensland.

To all volunteers in the community, I want to say thank you for your invaluable contribution to Providence. Your efforts have in no small way helped shape Providence into what it is and what it inevitably will be, setting the highest benchmark for community spirit throughout the Ripley Valley.

And finally, to all who secured their future homes in Providence this year, I would like to take the opportunity to say congratulations on your success with such an important milestone in life. Providence celebrated a significant milestone this year, accepting its 1,000th settlement, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome the buyers and everyone else to our thriving community.

I hope everyone has an incredible Christmas and an even happier new year. I cannot wait for what lies ahead and look forward to seeing you in 2019!
