Providence Schools Swing Open Doors For Future Families

Providence Schools Swing Open Doors For Future Families

28 FEB 2020

Future students, their parents and the broader South Ripley community will have their first opportunity to see inside Providence’s new $120 million education precinct, with the new schools to hold an Open Day on March 7.

Both the Ripley Valley State School and Ripley Valley State Secondary College will be opened for the community to see first hand the great facilities and provide families an opportunity to see why Providence is the home of lifestyle and education in the Ripley Valley.

Guided tours will operate from 9-11am with gates being closed at 12pm. The P&C Associations for both schools will be holding a BBQ sausage sizzle, drinks, raffles and food stall to help raise funds for new equipment for the schools.

The secondary school will also be selling foundation pavers that students/families/businesses can purchase to have their name permanently embedded in the school. Later in the year the intends to lay these pavers in Foundation Park as part of the refurbishment of this area.

More than 400 students attend the schools and have settled in well since the first day in late January.

Together with a new childcare centre due to open this year, the new precinct will provide Providence families with access to a full suite of state-of-the-art learning facilities in the heart of South Ripley’s most vibrant township.

Ripley Valley State Secondary College is open for Years 7 and 8 students this year and will grow each year to offer Year 7 to 12. The school master plan identifies further staged development as the school grows to accommodate the full Year 7 to 12 enrolments.

Completion of Stage 1 works which involve the Multi-Sport Centre and fit-out of additional amenities and school front will be undertaken throughout March with the intention of being completed for Term 2.

Plans are now being finalised for Stage 2 of the secondary college and will start construction next year. This work will see the school double in capacity with the additions of further purpose built facilities including a library/resource centre, senior science building and senior design and construction centre.

When fully completed the schools will include general learning areas, Art and Design Centre, ICT Centre, Applied Technology Centre, Science Centre and a lecture theatre in the heart of Providence.  The schools will also have dedicated spaces for performing arts, music multi-media, movement studies and sports.

Providence is the largest masterplanned community in the Ripley Valley growth corridor where there is a massive $4.4 billion worth of residential projects currently underway. To date, more than 1,300 homesites have been sold at Providence with a population now approaching 3,000 people.

Providence Project Director Michael Khan said the new education precinct had quickly become the bustling heart of the Providence township.

“The new schools are just the first stage of a major new town centre that will include a health and wellbeing hub and extensive retail, convenience and entertainment facilities,” he said.

“Providence is the heart and soul of the Ripley Valley, Queensland’s fastest growing corridor, and we look forward to delivering a town centre that provides our community with everything they need to live their very best life.”
