Residents of South Ripley’s Providence township will have even more opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, thanks to developer Okeland Communities’ proposed plans for a new off-leash dog area and active lifestyle space.
Located on Harmony Crescent to the north of the Providence Land Sales and Community Centre and the popular Splash n’ Play, the off-leash areas will cover about 2,500 square metres and feature generous open spaces and a number of new dog-friendly features.
Providence Project Director Michael Khan said the park space was part of Providence’s overall town masterplan to provide residents with facilities to pursue active, healthy lifestyles.
“Providence is home to many four-legged residents, and this park is our way making sure that there are public spaces available for them to enjoy the beautiful outdoors in a safe and clean environment,” he said.
“Dogs will be free to run and play off the leash, while the adjoining exercise park will provide a place for people to enjoy the outdoors and for social groups to be active together,” Mr Khan said.
The exercise park will feature suitable open space and an outdoor gym circuit made up of the latest outdoor equipment on the market. It will also feature a soft fall undercover exercise area that has been designed for outdoor yoga, group exercising and a range of other social outdoor activities.
Plans have the off-leash dog areas separated into two different spaces; one for small dogs and one for larger dogs. These areas will also include canine agility equipment and a sheltered area where owners can watch over their pets in comfort.
“We will also include parking facilities to make the park accessible to everyone,” Mr Khan said.
“It is important to us that we foster a belief in all residents that their home extends past their front door, and this park is a big step towards that goal.”
The plans are expected to allow construction to commence in the middle of the year, making the park ready to open by the end of 2019.Back to News Listing
