Providence Project Director Michael Khan said Providence was committed to building a healthy, lifestyle-driven community by providing the spaces and facilities to make exercising easy.
“The new park caters to fitness fanatics, seniors and first timers, and has been designed to encourage residents to enjoy the great outdoors while they reach their fitness goals,” he said.
The park includes a yoga area and cross-training space featuring cutting-edge fitness equipment and is home to Queensland’s first Kompan City Bike.
Mimicking the same abilities as an indoor gym bike, the award-winning City Bike features a touch screen allowing residents to adjust resistance, track watts, cadence, distance travelled, time spent riding and calories burned.
Residents can connect to the Kompan City Bike via Bluetooth allowing them to track their workouts, watch instructional videos and race their friends in real-time throughout the world via third party apps such as Zwift.
“It’s great to see Okeland putting such a heavy emphasis on fitness spaces for their communities.” said Ben Urban, managing director of Urban Play, who designed and installed the fitness space.
“We have already designed some incredible play spaces in Providence Ripley which are getting kids active and now parents have a space to be active and healthy role models for their kids,” Mr Urban said.
The fitness space also includes a core workout, suspension trainer, magnetic bells, parallel bars and stepping pods which are supported by a digital app which guiders residents on how to use the equipment by instructional videos and track their workouts.
Leading project Landscape Architect, Daniel Wright, commended Providence on their commitment to providing incredible parklands for their residents.
“The parks and gardens throughout Providence offer residents the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful sub-tropical climate. Providence’s commitment to creating a healthy community takes another step forward with the construction of the new yoga and fitness space. I’m certain this space will be very popular and well used by all,“ Mr Wright said.
Providence is the largest masterplanned township in the Ripley Valley, west of Brisbane. Spanning more than 700 hectares, around three times the size of Brisbane’s CBD, Providence is being developed by Okeland Communities. The town will be constructed over 20 years and will feature around 7,000 homes, providing for a population of about 20,000 residents. On completion, the community will include extensive parklands, a town centre, an education precinct, a health and wellbeing hub and a sport and recreation precinct. Located on 6 Amity Way, South Ripley, Providence’s Land Sales and Community Centre is open 10am – 5pm, 7 days.
